Turmeric is used to combat inflammation in the body and it also increases the antioxidant capacity in the body. The active ingredient, curcumin, neutralizes free radicals that cause oxidative damage, which is believed to be behind aging and many diseases. Free radicals are unpaired electrons that react negatively with DNA, fatty acids, and proteins. Antioxidants protect our body from free radicals and curcumin is a very powerful antioxidant.  Curcumin boosts the body's own antioxidant enzyme levels to naturally fight against inflammation and diseases along with neutralizing free radicals on its own.

Curcumin may:

1) Help delay aging and fight age related diseases, such as Alzheimers.

2) May benefit depression.  Paired with an antidepressant it gives better benefits, but curcumin by itself is just as effective as an antidepressant. Low BDNE levels are linked to Depression and Alzheimers. Curcumin boosts BDNE levels to potentially reverse these brain changes.

3) Arthritis- Curcumin is a potent anti-inflammatory for arthritis

4) May prevent Alzheimer's- Helps with inflammation and oxidative damage that may be linked to the contribution of cell damage. It can help to clear amyloid plaques that are the protein tangles that buildup in the brain that ultimately leads to Alzheimers.

5) Can help to prevent and even treat Cancer- Curcumin can affect the cancer growth, developmet, and spread of cancer at the molecular level. It may help to prevent cancer, especially digestive system cancers, such as colorectal cancer.

6)Should lower the risk of Heart Disease by improving the function of the endothelium (lining of the blood vessels) and the inability (due to inflammation) of the endothelium to regulate blood pressure, to perform blood clotting, and other factors is one reason why heart disease develops. Curcumin reduces inflammation and oxidation.

You have to find one with bioperine (another name for piperine), which is the substance that enhances absorption of curcumin by 2000%.

The recommended dosage is between 400 and 600mg a day and look for turmeric that contain 95% curcuminoids

This is evidence-based information.
